Bird man

I bought a few second hand male mannequins from my sister-in-law a couple of weeks ago. She runs a retail store on the beach and these were in the warehouse.

I made my ‘Bird man’ in an assemblage workshop last October. The assignment was to make a list of emotions, maybe daily rituals. I feed the wild birds in the garden every morning. I would like to have a bird sanctuary, I sort of do but I get regular visits from Boa’s. I saw 2 baby Boa’s in the garden this week. They were too fast. They hid and I lost them. Oh well…

On the body gesso, acrylic paint, words and phrases written with ink on acrylic paper (decoupage with gel medium) and a nest on his shoulders made from chicken wire, hay, nest material and feathers. This is a garden sculpture.
