Dopamine

I love it when I have been thinking about a project or composition and I suddenly get a light bulb moment and I know what I am going to do with the assignment. Like when I suddenly see a face or a house in a mash of paint and I get it out and do something totally different with the work. It makes me fall in love with this work and a strong dosage of a certain hormone is released in my brain.

Like this morning I looked at a canvas I had poured acrylic paint on and it was nice and had an interesting shape and I kept turning it around, landscape or portrait? Rotate again? In search of something tangible I guess. And then I suddenly saw a child’s head in the totality of colors and forms flowing into each other, a child with braided hair. Braids going in all directions, in all colors…
